What Name Servers Should I Use to Connect My Domain?

What are Name Servers?

Name servers are essential components of the internet’s infrastructure. They translate human-readable domain names (like www.example.co.uk) into IP addresses (like 192.168.1.1), which computers use to locate and communicate with each other. When you enter a domain name into your web browser, the name server responds with the corresponding IP address, directing your browser to the correct website. In summary, name servers act like a phone directory, making it easy to navigate the web using easy-to-remember names instead of numerical addresses.

The process at the backend, however, is more complicated. It involves a series of queries and responses between your browser, recursive resolvers, root servers, TLD (Top-Level Domain) servers, and authoritative name servers to ultimately retrieve the correct IP address. This series of interactions ensures that users can effortlessly access websites by typing in easy-to-remember domain names.

Where Can I Find My Name Servers?

In most cases, you can easily locate your nameservers in your welcome email. Typically, we use 4 nameservers for the majority of hosting accounts.

Name Server:

  • ns1.ukhost4u.com IP: 188.64.188.171
  • ns2.ukhost4u.com IP: 188.64.184.30
  • ns3.ukhost4u.com IP: 188.64.186.30
  • ns4.ukhost4u.com IP: 103.13.102.130

Our nameservers are distributed across multiple data centers and servers to ensure redundancy.

These should not be used with Cloud Hosting or any VPS / Dedicated Server.
